Most games coming out today focus strongly on realism, coming out with better graphics, better-detailed characters, realistic simulation of environments and what not. However, as good as this is for those who enjoy this sort of thing, sometimes players want a bit more variety and less seriousness in the games they’re playing. So with this in mind, Spyborgs already stands out from the majority of its competition. How well does it live up to the expectations for something unique in its gameplay though? Quite well, actually. Red Steel 2 is the sequel to a semi-popular title for the Nintendo Wii, set in a unique world that combines elements of western with fantasy and oriental culture. The game is, again, a first-person shooter, though its gameplay has changed from its predecessor somewhat, with the game now being a lot more refined and streamlined towards the action side of things. The Monster Hunter series has enjoyed moderate success worldwide, which is weak compared to how the game is received in Japan, where it’s a huge hit. The lack of its international popularity may have prevented you from hearing of this franchise, and of the recently released third installment in it. The game made some changes to the gameplay, and to the franchise in general – the most drastic of which was probably the switch to another platform – the game is no longer for the PlayStation, but rather for the Wii.
